Summer

I wish I could find a sweet tune to play for you. Full of rambling fiddle riffs that linger in the air. I would give you a jar of lightning bugs to guide you through the long warm nights. Full to the brim of glowing bodies ready to escape. I throw the ball into the your night air hoping the stars will catch a few extra twinkles. Full of sparklers & waves of wands making the magic of your season last longer. Towels and barefeet await us as we dance under your sky. Tiptoeing through the high grasses you lead us into another day. Summer, Summer, Summer....

10

Time carries you along in it's wide arms for all to see, Letting go of the little boy you were & watching in awe as you grow, grow into your own. I love how you laugh a lot & see the world with your own eyes. Never stop being you, beautiful boy.

Welcome Chicks

I came in to volunteer at the perfect time today in Maddie's class! They have been anxiously waiting the arrival of their "Rhode Island Reds!" At around 11am this morning, the first one made his appearance. I'm not sure which was more exciting...the chick's birth or the kids' reaction. What an amazing thing for them to see. Welcome little chick...hoping your brothers and sisters arrive tonight:)

OTN

It's been a while since I've posted an "on the needles."
Thought today felt like a good day for that. I'm working on a simple black bamboo blend sweater for the fall. It's coming right along. Found in Spring 2012 KnitScence Mag. Pattern Roxborough Dolman by Courtney Kelley

Monday Music

For Jeff

I sat & read words unable to understand. You gone, it all felt wrong. You were suppose to be happy & living the life I imagined you in. So many memories of your smile & gentle spirit. Walking in the Los Padres Forest, a girl from NC feeling so out of her element, yet safe with you. A friend, I wish I had known better. Floods of times, so long along. You as cool as ever, me not so much. Just watching in awe at all that you knew, It seems so unfair that you left so soon RIP Jeffrey

Our Herb Garden

Remember our garden we started a few years back. We were hoping that side of the house would get enough sun for tomatoes, but it hasn't worked as well as I had hoped. The yellow grape tomatoes came back last summer, but it's a hard space for the tomatoes. They need a lot of sun! So this space has turned into a herb garden. Right now, the rosemary, sage & oregano are loving life. They all survived the winter months & look great. I transplanted the herb pot that I started inside a few weeks back. So I'm really hoping for the addition of basil, cilantro & parsley so take root. The only other herb that I would like to add this spring is dill. Who doesn't love a little dill in their salad! Take a look.

No High School Math Mandatory..

A friend posted this on facebook yesterday & after you watch it, you'll see why it struck home with me. Especially if you read my "16 yo letter" to myself & have a child who is beginning to get frustrated with math..mainly because it seems to be the majority of his homework. Math can definitely be a four-lettered around here. I remember the year..7th grade when I got that math teacher who had no patience for my math inablilities. Pre-algebra in Ms. Evans class, began the "math anxiety" for me. I would love to see "brain games" incorporated into all the grade levels math lessons. John Bennett for class president!
