Happy New Year!

We're back home from spending our 2nd Christmas in NC visiting my family. I even got to catch up with old friends. A reminder of how fast time flies..

It was a nice visit & I always miss NC when we have to leave. But it does feel good to be home. Home to a thousand new toys & an overwhelming feeling of "where will all this stuff go???"

2010 here we come...

Ho! Ho! Ho!

The long awaited night.,..is finally here. I hope Santa comes:) I know Ms. Claus has been busy reading Twilight & New Moon the last few nights, so hopefully she can take a break from that & keep Santa on task:) Merry Christmas from all of us!

Lovely Snow..

I noticed the snow falling last night & wondered how much we would wake up to...
Just enough to make our lazy Saturday morning alittle more December-like.

Photo of the Day

I thought it'd be fun to have a "photo a day" for a few days...since I have a bunch of stuff to get done & am feeling so unorganized & unmotivated. Maybe a little picture taking will give me a boost in the right direction.

Today's photo...
Jack always has his hands in something he shouldn't & lately he's been playing with the box of used batteries I collect. I usually get around to recycling them once a year. It's crazy how many batteries we go thru! Anyways..this little battery creation caught my eye. wonder what i will find tomorrow.

Christmas 06 & 09

How is it you can see the same person everyday & never notice how they are changing & growing right before your eyes.

The Game of "Life"...

Game nite
little blue & pink stick figures
creeping around the board.
spin, spinning,
i hear the click, click, clicking.
time to stop & get married.
pay day coming.
uncle needs a loan,
you buy a new home.
make a donation or buy a stock.
children are coming in a flock.
bankruptcy or millions???
in your future,
only time will tell
in the game of life.

First Snowy Morning..

This morning, we awoke to a nice dusting of snow. Made our trek to school a bit of an adventure. The temp & winds are miserably cold, but the sun is shining..that's all that matters:)

Winter Sky

Technically not winter yet...but it definately feels like it outside. Last week we had some clear nights & I got this photo of the full moon out front.
Jack really wants a telescope for Christmas, but not sure if it will happen this year. We'd really like to get a nice one to use for many years to come. I think it would be fun for the whole family.

Bird Watching:)

Every winter..I notice the cardinals in front yard & think about how they almost glow in the winter among all the bare limbs.

Parents..

I was listening to npr last week & heard Eliot Glazer talking about his blog www.myparentswereawesome.com. It's basically a photo blog for people to email pictures of their parents....before they were parents. I scrolled through alot of the photos on the site, photos of long go, so nostaligic & interesting, since you are left to wonder about the story behind each photo. It got me thinking & wondering about my parents as teenagers & of how my kids naturally view me as mom & not so much as "Kelly."

It's easy to loose yourself alittle or alot in your kids. I definately see alot of myself in my kids, and that in itself is a good reminder of preparenthood. Does that make sense?? I guess what I'm saying is, I'm glad I heard the story of the blog & was reminded of my parents life prior to me & that they were pretty awesome:) And that your kids should hear about your life prior to them:)
