Trimming the tree..

Seems so early to put up the Christmas tree... When I was little the tree usually made it up mid December. But with our lovely artifical tree:0), we can pull it out Thanksgiving break & start decorating. It was fun digging through all the ornaments & not so fun breaking a few. Now all we need are presents to go underneath. Wish that was as easy:)

Thankful

Thankful for the sun that shines down,
The grass beneath my feet
Seeing the color even when the leaves are kneedeep.

Jack & Jenny's Lincoln Memorial

In social studies, Jack's class has been learning about American Symbols & Landmarks. Jack's been enjoying it! As a class project he & his partner completed a model of the Lincoln Memorial. Take a look 8)

Matching Jammies

In a quick burst of energy Friday afternoon, I pulled out a pattern for kid's jammie bottoms & made these!! Jack LOVES his, but Maddie isnt that excited about hers. I guess I'll have to look for pink flannel next time")

To be continued...

I can't remember when we got this puzzle. I know it was a long time ago...long before we moved to Columbus. It's fun to look at it now & recognize favorite places around the city. I'm thinking this may take awhile to piece together considering Maddie is the main person trying to put it together!

Swimming

This morning I took Ms. Maddie to our local rec center to swim. She & Jack have been taking swim lessons & I've definately been excited about their progress, but I had no idea how excited & proud I would be when I was in the water with her today. I was almost in tears! She's swimming!!! Like a little fish. We spent almost 2 hours playing, splashing, floating & all that fun stuff.

Our Little People

After seeing cousin Stacy Saturday make her little wooden people, Jack got the idea to make his own. A trip to Michaels & some fine point markers later...we have a new family of "little people." Maddie made her own as well.

Crafting

Today was my very first craft show. I was a little nervous about it all, but it turned out to be a fun day. No stress, just hanging with the ladies & my little man...Jack. He was so excited about selling his art. Maddie had a daddy day at the zoo.

John's cousin Stacy was a couple of craft tables down. I had to get the Wizard of OZ wooden book set that she made! How cute are they!!

Nuh visits

We have had my aunt here visting this week & it's been great. Her time always goes too fast & the kids try to eat up every second they can with her. It reminds me of those important relationships we make as children with our family. I'm so glad she's a part of their lives...we'll be missing her next week.

Kid's Art

I love looking at kid's artwork. It's always so true to the moment..."revealing," I guess would be a good adjective. This week Jack brought home a self portrait he worked on in art class at school. Look closely & you'll see a cat, soccer ball & crayon in hand...pretty revealing of his personality:) ignore the big flash...need to retake w.o flash during daylight.

Maddie's always drawing or coloring. She's very proud of her creations & this one I'm guessing is her imaginary birthday party. The one she's planning...5 months in advance.

Super Sunday

The WexArts Center on OSU's campus had a great event yesterday..free for all to try oil painting & tour Luc Tuyman's exhibit. Tuyman's art is on display through Jan. 2010. Amazing... It was a fun afternoon. While we were there painting, a reporter with the Columbus Dispatch came over & started chatting...& interestingly enough we were featured in today's paper.
