In the kitchen

New recipes & new mugs:)...making me happy this week in the kitchen.
Mugs are from Crate & Barrel. I liked them right away, thinking they will go with our fiesta ware. They just feel happy!



Quinoa (keen-waa) has been added to my vocabulary & tummy recently..it's so yummy! You can find it in the pasta section, but it's actually a seed full of protein & vitamins. Unfortunately, I'm the only one in our family that finds it so interesting & tasty. I made a quinoa salad this week. Here's the recipe:
steam carrots & any of veg you like. i used peppers, onions, carrots
toss in almonds & raisins
1 cup of quinoa ( rinse with cold water or soak for a few minutes. Boil 1 1/4 cup water & then simmer, pour in quinoa..cook for 13 min. then cover & take off heat for 5 min. you can strain if you need to.
1/4 cup evoo
tsp salt
2 tbs lemon juice
1 tsp minced or fresh garlic
pepper to taste
toss & chill. it's become a fav snack for me, but can also be a meal.
