no snow balls just snow angels
Snow Ball
I made myself a snow ball as perfect as could be
I thought I'd keep it as a pet and let it sleep with me
I made it some pajamas and a pillow for it's head
Then, last night it ran away
But first -- it wet the bed.

Flowers & Music anyone??
John & Mad surprised me yesterday with a bouquet of bright lovely flowers....oooohhh!!how I miss summer! Plus Jack on violin...he started lessons at Music Royale in June 2008. Brian taught him alot & then when it was time to learn the bow, we found a great teacher, David Tanner who plays with the Columbus Symphony. Jack really seems to enjoy it & David thinks he is doing very well. Take a listen.

Lego Morning
Sunday morning...a lego morning...Jack rebuilt his police station that he built at Nana's over Christmas. Definately easier the second time! With a little organization...things seem to move along easier.
Also, a few touchups on Knitty Bunny.
More snow today...it came down fast. A few inches in just a few hours.

Knitty Bunny
I've been thinking about knitting some fun critters...I got a copy of the LionBrand knit catalog & it got me inspired.. But all the patterns I liked were crochet ones. I'd like to learn..
So I grabbed my DPNs & created this little bunny for Delaney's 1st bday. I thought it wold go well with one of our favs...Knuffle Bunny books. Too bad I didnt have the right colors to try a knuffle bunny look alike. It was really tight at the end, and my hands ached when I was done. Hopefully Delaney will love it for years to come!

French Lesson
Bonjour! Yesterday, I volunteered in Jack's class for multicultural week. 1st graders are focusing on France. It was fun being back in the classroom teaching again...the old days at "New Hope" seem so long ago. Our grade level did a multicultural unit at the end year and I would teach about Kenya.
Jack's class made cockades of red, white & blue paper (symbolizing the knot of ribbons the French wear on hats or lapels) as a symbol of nationalism. Also they colored the French flag & will wear & carry their cockades & flags to an assembly today. They even learned a few French words & ate foods from France...croissants with French jelly & cream puffs on Wed. Yum. Too bad we can't take a field trip!

Hi Little Guy
I was coming down the stairs yesterday & saw this little guy hanging out on my snowy roof. He had found a dry spot to stop..his nose so pink, got my thinking about how those cute little guys survive such cold winters. I imagined a squirrel family waiting back home similar to those bunnies in Beatrix Potter's tales...all waiting for dad's return with a full tummy & some treats for their winter hibernation. Good luck little one.

Let it Snow...
It seems no matter how old you are or where you grew up...snow feels magical ! It makes you smile and feel like a kid again...maybe that's the magic. Feeling happy just by looking outside or touching a snowflake. After a few weeks of it or even months of it...the magic does wear off some, but today it feels good.

A Few First for the First Month of 2009
My first post of the new year...so I thought I'd start with a few first for 2009.
Maddie had her first official beauty shop visit yesterday...we both had our haircut at Dublin Hair & Nails. I imagine this will become a routine visit. Her quote from today was "my hair has grown..can I get it cut again today:)"
Another first...double knitted needles. I got a set for Christmas & have begun my first round knitting project. I'm making a set of "toasties" www.soulemama.com (LOVE her site) found the pattern there. I made armwarmers in Nov..but this is without a seam....very cool!
One more first...Jack needlepointing:) He started a project for Yaya's bday..it's so cute to see him excited about a new craft. I'll take a pic & post when he's done.
Happy 2009!
