This is usually the time of the year, when I start to knit a little less, but I'm finding that this year I have new ideas brewing & with the weather outside being so winter-like, it's easy to keep the yarn close by. At this rate, I may finish this short sleeve striped sweater.
In the car, on our DC trip, I made this. It's a longer version of the capped sleeve sweaters I made Maddie of a few years back. You can check out my ravelry page to see how to purchase the pattern. http://www.ravelry.com/projects/krd406/girls-cap-sleeved-spring-shirt I'm loving the stripes & purple is moving up the list of my favorite colors.
On a sad note, somewhere in DC right now, someone is sporting my yellow butterfly beret:( or maybe it's laying somewhere all alone missing me as much as I miss her. Oh, it was a sad moment when I realized I left it somewhere in the many museums we visited. Due to the fact, I feel lost w.o a hat here, I'm started a spring version of that same butterfly beret.
More stuff lurking in my knitting basket:)

DC
We ventured east this past weekend...all the way over to "our nation's capitol!" Spring break gave us lots of sunshine, tons of walking & much to see. I liked the feel of stepping outside of our bubble & immersing ourselves in urban life..seeing the train station, riding it everyday, leaving our car behind, hearing all the different languages, looking up at the beautiful architecture; it all made me happy. Happy mostly to spend four whole days with my favorite people, w/o a kitchen for me to cook or clean in & lots of yummy meals made especially for me by awesome cooks & bakers:) The food...oh my! it was all so good, everywhere we went the vegetarian options were incredible. Some of my favorites were (super healthy) fiddleheads greens -a young fern..it was awesome! & (not so healthy, but oh so yummy), cutie pie cupcakes! The assortment of restaurants & choices was amazing! Oh, & the other stuff was pretty cool too. Take a look!

Projects
I'm starting to fill my project basket again with lots of new things..take a look.
I found all these patterns, over at www.ravelry.com
The "Plain and Simple" sweater by Veera Valimaki is lots & lots of knit, knit, knit (garter stitch), which is nice for movie & tv time, but it can get rather boring. I think I'm only half way done & it feels like I have been working on it for a looong time. I'm also not really feeling my color & yarn choices. The yarn is 100% cheapo acrylic I've had in the yarn bin for years..but with a project this size, I thought it would useful since I kind of like the color & have enough to complete the sweater. We'll see..it's alot of work to just toss aside on the sweater shelf. I hope I can wear it & love the stripes & fit.
I started the "Darkside Cowl" by Sarah Fama in a peachy colored yarn. I cant wait to see the stitch pattern "Rib and Welt Diagonals" emerge.
I found a beautiful "Honey Cowl" by madelintosh (love!!) pattern, but I'm contemplating starting it with the purple yarn. I bought several 50g balls of a wool blend recently. I love the purple, and I bought it intending to make something for Maddie. I just cant find a new pattern for her that I want to start. I'm thinking of going back to a beloved "cap sleeved sweater" pattern & making it longer into a sweater dress. It's seamless, so that always good for my sewing abilities:) Here's a peek at the purple yarn.
Speaking of sewing...I stumbled into "Sew to Speak" over in Clintonville this weekend while we had some violin repairs & remembered how excited I use to be about learning to sew. hmmm..thinking of taking a class. Jack & Maddie found a small bit of fabric while we were there & with mom & dads' help they made these.
