Pegasus
This morning..bright & early (well not so bright) but early..Jack began a new season with the Dublin United Team Pegasus!! Madeline wasnt that happy about being at a soccer field at 8:30am so my great action shots that I intended to take were taken with a squirmy child in tow or lap. Here are a few of my little man.

August..
A new school year awaits... 2nd grade!!! Just the sound of 2nd grade brings waves of memories...Ms. Marks, my 2nd grade teacher (who I still remember reading with) to when I welcomed 24 excited 2nd graders in 1998 to my first classroom. I have so many memories of 2nd graders..it's hard to believe that I actually have a son this age. I'm so excited for him to start a new year,& a little jealous that I wont be there to see the freshly sharpened pencils, clean erasers, new papers & organized classroom corners. I have a weird fetish for a fresh box of crayons & tomorrow lots will be cracked open to draw a summer memory or to write a letter to a friend. Here's a look back at a few August in our family..

Sewing Friday..
I've wanted to make reusable snack bags for awhile (since my esty order never showed.) Today was the day!! Thanks Yaya!! It has a waterproof liner inside.,made by ironing on fusable vinyl. Here's the site for the pattern I used

The pencil bag was designed by Jackie & sewed by Yaya while waiting for me to finish my last bag. She makes everything look so easy!! Hopefully there will be more sewing to come.

Back from NC
We made our last summer jaunt to NC to see all of my family before school starts here on the 25th. It was a great visit. Caitlyn, my niece's 7th bday party was so fun. She's growing up so fast. Jack & Maddie always love spending time with her. And it was great to see everyone.
I forget how beautiful the "country" of NC is..esp where I grew up:0) We spent most of our time in the "country" with family..which was nice & relaxing, but did venture to Durham's Museum of Life & Science on Sunday. It has grown so much since I worked there way back when. The Dino Trail & train ride were among some favorites.
On our last day...we had all afternoon to hang out while we waited for our late flight. The road led us back to where John & I have some of our best memories post college.. The great town of Carrboro!! Love it there & would move back there in a second but....it is a little out of our price range & Jack refuses to leave Ohio:0 That makes it easy for us to stay put here. I really do love it here, but Carrboro has a way of tugging at my heartstrings & all kinds of imaginary scenarios come to mind. We had lunch at Elmos's in Carr Mill Mall & stopped by AlleyCat & just soaked up all the great memories we had there.

Silversun Pickups..
I've been lazy with blogging lately. Thought I'd share a music listen..
I'm so glad I caught this band..Silversun Pickups on unplugged last week. They remind me of Smashing Pumpkins alittle...his voice sounds like Billy Corgan. Check it out.

Kite Flying..
All day it was windy, but a little thunder this morning kept me from wanting to fly our new kite. Yes...hope you recognize our high flying friendly characters:) Found this at Big Lots on Sunday! The kids were very excited to try & fly it. we waited until after soccer camp tonight..of course the wind had died down & it took alot of running to keep it up, but it sure was fun. We were all full of giggles.
